  1. Squeeze your microfiber towel or old t-shirt to remove any excess water

  3. Apply your styling primer (optional), leave-in conditioner (optional) followed by your heat protectant to the lengths of your hair, avoiding the scalp
  4. Comb your hair with your wide-toothed comb to detangle and distribute the product(s) through
  5. Air dry your hair (ideal) or sit under a bonnet or hooded hair dryer until your hair is completely dry
  6. Section your hair into three sections lengthwise and use t-rex clips to secure
  7. Turn your curling iron between 250 to 300 degrees. Use the lowest setting possible to style your hair
  8. Starting with the middle section, take a half-inch section of hair
  9. Comb your hair from roots to ends using your rattail comb to get out any knots or kinks
  10. Option 1:
    1. Clamp the curling iron on ends and roll it towards your scalp. Get as close to your scalp as possible without burning yourself
    2. Allow the iron to stay for 10 to 15 seconds and then slide the curl off the iron
    3. Use a metal hair clip to secure the curl to your scalp, creating a pin curl
    4. After the middle section is complete, repeat for the remaining sections until your entire head is covered in pin curls
    5. Finish with a few spritz of shine spray (optional) and/or hair spray (optional)
  11. Option 2:
    1. Smooth the roots with your curling iron
    2. Clamp your curling iron close to your scalp and turn and clamp the iron until your hair is rolled up tight (be careful not to burn your scalp)
    3. Allow the iron to stay for 10 to 15 seconds and then slide the curl off
    4. Use a metal hair clip to secure the curl to your scalp, creating a pin curl
    5. After the middle section is complete, repeat for all remaining sections until your head is covered in pin curls
    6. Finish with a few spritz of shine spray (optional) and/or hair spray (optional)

Night:

  1. Put your hair in a loose bun or two bantu knots using bobby pins or spin pins or re-pin your hair (do not re-curl your hair with the curling iron)
  2. Place your silk or satin scarf over your head or sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase

Morning:

  1. Remove your silk or satin scarf if used
  2. Take down your hair
  3. Flip your head upside down and finger comb your hair if necessary
  4. Stand upright and finger style or comb your hair into place
  5. Finish with a few spritz of shine spray (optional) and/or hair spray (optional)
