  1. Squeeze your microfiber towel or old t-shirt to remove any excess water
  2. Remove your towel or t-shirt
  3. Apply your heat protectant (only if you intend to dry your hair with heat) and hair oil to the lengths of your hair, avoiding the scalp
  4. Undo one section and use a clip to keep the other sections secure
  5. Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to detangle
  6. Spray your hair using your water bottle if it becomes dry as you work. Your hair should be damp, but not wet
  7. Take a smaller section of hair and use hair clips to keep the rest secure. (For smaller curls, take small sections of hair. For bigger curls, take bigger sections of hair.)
  8. Using your rattail comb, comb your hair so that it is smooth
  9. Apply curl cream and gel to the section that you are working on
  10. Braid your hair into a two-strand twist or braid
  11. Next wrap the twist around the base/roots until a bun starts to form. Be careful not to snag or rip any of your hair
  12. Repeat until the whole head is covered in knots
  13. Allow your hair to air dry completely or sit under a hooded hair dryer for two hours and then let it air dry overnight
  14. Carefully unravel your knots in the morning
  15. Loosely style your hair using your fingers

  1. Put your hair in a loose, high ponytail using a ponytail holder
  2. Place your silk or satin scarf over your head or sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase

  1. Remove your silk or satin scarf if used
  2. Style your hair using your fingers
  3. Finish with hair oil (optional)

Note: Your styling products should contain either no silicones or water-soluble silicones to prevent buildup and rinse out of the hair easily.
